How do designers, builders, and sailors push the limits of technology, rapidly improving the performance and safety of sailing today?

The answer is, and always has been, science. The multitude of factors that influence a boat at sea requires accurate and intensive research for the advancement in boating technology; research behind the science of sailing is what fuels the production of safer and faster performance boats.

SYRF is a foundation dedicated to supporting this research. The results of SYRF’s research are published freely and openly, benefiting designers, builders, sailmakers, spar builders, and most importantly: boaters and sailors themselves.

SYRF funding has contributed to several rating systems used for ocean racing around the globe, the creation of a research database of past research and published work on the science of sailing, and the launh of a new CFD and tank-testing study at the University of Southampton as well as other research facilities.

Supporting science in sailing helps everyone in the boating community, and it’s easy! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Sailing yacht Research Foundation at:
